We recommend not sinning willfully, it will kill you. But if you do, as 1 John 2:1 says, remember that Jesus is your eternal atonement for that sin. Meaning, he has paid the price for it and empowers you not to continue to give in. The ultimate response being transformation, where your desires change.

@@tullythebully5539@tullythebully5539 The author of Hebrews warned against people who were abandoning their faith in Christ and returning to the Jewish temple to make sacrifices for their sins. Once Jesus raised and the New Covenant was enacted, the Old Covenant Levitical priesthood sacrifices were no longer acceptable, Jesus was and is now the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. That's why he warns them to not turn back. The warning still applies to us today, to not turn away from trusting Christ as our righteousness when we engage in sin. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

2 Corinthians 5 says we are the righteousness of God in Christ. Colossians 2 explains how God performs spiritual circumcision on us and removes the root of sin from us. He cleanses us with the blood of Christ and puts his spirit in us. That means we are not only righteous but also holy because we've been sanctified by his blood, which makes us holy. Remember that keeping the law can not make us righteous. Righteousness actually comes by faith. So this is not a license to sin, saying sin doesn't matter. The truth is that perfect behavior doesn't make us righteous, just as committing sin doesn't make us unrighteous. Now, we are to live well within that freedom and steward this great salvation we've been given. One way to do that is to not yield our bodies to sin.
